About Us

Able Engineering Inc. began operation in March 1992, providing mechanical and electrical consulting services for Owners, Architects, Builders, Developers, Government Departments, Building, Managers/Operators, Industries, and Interior Designers.


To date, we have successfully completed several hundred projects and have about thirty projects in various stages of completion. Founding Directors K.E. (Gene) Abe and J.B. (Bernie) Little proudly point to the impressive portfolio of projects Able Engineering has completed as evidence of their reputation as one of Toronto's finest Consulting Engineering firms.

History

The two principals have combined experience of some 70 years. Gene Abe worked for a number of Consulting Engineering firms locally and in Vancouver BC. Prior to joining Able Engineering, Gene was with the firm of John Garay Engineering Ltd. for 25 years before the firm closed down its consulting business, with the last 15 years as Managing Partner. The firm numbered some 25 to 30 people for most of the years, and focused much of their work on commercial, residential and industrial accounts. Many of John Garay's former clients now use Able Engineering.


Bernie has successfully operated his own Mechanical Contracting firm since graduating from university with a BASc in mechanical engineering. Under his direct supervision the firm also provided many design/build services on varying types of buildings.


Steven Little joined the firm following his graduation in 1996 from University of Western Ontario with a BESc degree in mechanical engineering. In 2002 Steven became a Shareholder and Director, and is currently Partner in charge of a number of major projects.

Job Opening: Mechanical BIM Manager

Job Description:

Able Engineering is currently seeking a BIM Modeller to join our team of highly skilled professionals in the role of
BIM Manager. The primary duties of the BIM Manager are to work with project teams on BIM Management
including project setup, model coordination, model development, support and project close out. The successful
candidate will be expected to communicate with clients, support design teams and oversee BIM modelling from
design development thru construction and assist with design and drafting of various projects.

Experience in the following would be considered an asset:
• Revit and BIM related modelling, family creation and model coordination
• Heat load calculations
• HVAC duct and piping layout and sizing
• Plumbing and drainage layout and sizing
• Fire protection systems layout


Qualifications:
• Minimum 5+ years of related mechanical modelling/drafting experience using Revit in the BIM process
• Expert knowledge in Autodesk Revit
• Graduate of an Engineering Design or Drafting Technology program, or equivalent is a plus.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD and able to produce mechanical engineering models/drawings for buildings
• Effective communication skills
• Attention to detail, particularly related to the quality of the models/drawings
• Willingness to work overtime, if required
• Ability to work as part of a team in a leadership role

Job Description:

Able Engineering is currently seeking a BIM Modeller/CAD Drafter to join our team of highly skilled professionals.  The primary duties of the Mechanical Designer are to develop and prepare models/drawings from concept sketches and engineering designs using Revit and AutoCAD.
